Person using a Esker bucksaw to cut wood in a snowy forest

About ESKER

Built for the Journey

Our Story

Est. 2015MADE IN CANADA

Esker was founded in 2015 by lifelong winter and canoe campers who had learned through experience that much of the gear available wasn't built for real, changing conditions. It was often too bulky or overly complex, with features that didn't hold up over time.

As they travelled through the Canadian backcountry, they found themselves needing gear that could move as freely as they did — reliable and adaptable, without holding them back. There was also a growing desire for equipment made in Canada, built with care, and suited for the kinds of journeys they undertook both here and abroad.

Esker began by working with skilled craftspeople in Canada, drawing on generations of experience to create a traditional bucksaw from locally sourced hardwood. Simple in its design and easy to carry, it set the foundation for what Esker would become.

That same thinking expanded to tents, stoves, axes, and other gear — all designed to be compact and practical, and to work with the environment they are meant for, not against it — shaped by experience and built with the same attention to detail.

Today, Esker builds time-tested gear focused on portability and reliability, made in Canada and built to last wherever the journey leads.
